The BABY-SAFE PRO by Britax Römer is their lightest and most innovative infant carrier yet. Featuring optimal comfort for your baby with Ergo Recline which introduces a new level of safety, comfort, and ergonomics. When reclined, the babies’ position becomes flatter and more ergonomic, supporting and promoting the healthy development of the spine and keeping the airways open. Quickly switch in and out of Ergo Recline – no matter where you are. It can be used both inside and outside of the car, so your baby can sleep
At only 3.9 kg, the BABY-SAFE PRO is extremely light and comfortable to carry. The extra-large sun canopy can be easily adjusted to provide an optimal cover and protection for your baby. Not only the release from the base is very easy, but also the switch in and out of the Ergo Recline can be done with just one hand, offering additional flexibility on the go.
Key features:
Modular Base system - The modular FLEX BASE 5Z (sold separately) is compatible with the new BABY-SAFE PRO as well as the BABY-SAFE 3 i-SIZE, and the DUALFIX 3 i-SIZE (both sold separately).
Easy access - The rotating feature of the base allows you to turn the seat to the car door, allowing you to easily place your child in and out of the seat.
Adjustable rebound bar - The rebound bar not only helps to prevent the child car seat from tilting in an impact but can also be adjusted by an entire 8 degrees. This allows you to easily adjust the rebound bar to the backrest of the vehicle seat and gives your child 10% of additional leg space.
Adjustable angle optimisation - In cars with inclined vehicle seats, there may be a risk of your child's head tipping forward, especially when they fall asleep in a car seat. With our FLEX BASE 5Z (sold separately) you can easily adjust the angle of the car seat to six different positions, to provide a more ergonomic yet safe position of your child during any journey and in any car.
Installed correctly every time - Thanks to the audible click, you can be sure that the BABY-SAFE 5Z is installed correctly every time. Additionally, a visual indicator on the release button of the base offers extra peace of mind.
The Britax Römer Pivot Link ISOFIX System - In case of an impact, the patented Pivot Link ISOFIX System directs the force first downward (1), into the vehicle seat, and then forward (2), more gently – greatly reducing the risk of head and neck injury for your child.
Smart and adjustable support leg - The support leg provides extra stability for the infant carrier base via the vehicle floor. It minimises the tilting and rotational movement and reduces the forward movement forces exerted on your child in a crash situation, helping to protect them. For a secure installation, the support leg can be adjusted to suit the height that’s best for your car. The easy-to-read indicator shows you when the support leg is positioned firmly on your vehicle’s floor, changing from red to black when correctly installed. Additionally, the support leg will notify you with a sound if not correctly installed.
ISOFIX ratchet system - The ISOFIX ratchet system allows the ISOFIX arms to extend so you can easily fit or remove the infant carrier base from the ISOFIX anchorage points in the car. Once the ISOFIX connectors are engaged, push the base until it touches the back of the vehicle seat. This prevents the infant carrier from lifting upwards in case of an impact.
Easy storage - Britax Römer know that parents of young children have lots of baby items to store so we have designed the infant carrier base with convenient storage in mind. The support leg folds up so you can easily pack it away in your car’s boot or at home. By folding the leg under the seat this also deactivates the security beep from the support leg to provide a peaceful storage solution.
Safety:
Under no circumstances should a rearward-facing car seat be used on a passenger seat where there is an active airbag.
Correct fitting of all car seats and boosters is of paramount importance in making them the most effective in the event of an accident. Not all car seats fit all cars and it is important to check for fitting suitability on all cars you intend to fit the seat to, as well as re-checking if you change your car.
Always read the instruction booklet that comes with your car seat to achieve a safe and correct fitting, retaining the guide for future reference. We recommend fitting your car seat in advance of first using it.
We recommend that babies shouldn't be left in car seats (infant carriers) for prolonged periods.
Suitability:
- Please make sure that you check the car seat you choose is suitable for your car before ordering. This can be done in store with a Partner or on the car seat manufacturer's website.
- Some of our shops offer a car seat fit test, where a Nursery advisor will test the display model in your car to check that it will fit properly. Please contact your local shop to see if this service is available. Alternatively, please contact the car seat manufacturer who will be able to advise whether their model will be suitable for your car.
- We also offer in-store and virtual appointments so you can access our All Things Baby services at a time and place to suit you. or find your nearest
All the car seats in our range are designed to give your child the best possible protection and meet the criteria set out in the R129 (iSize) safety regulation. A baby must travel in the safer rear-facing position up to the minimum recommended age of 15 months. Some R129 car seats can be used rear-facing until a child is 105cm tall, which is around 4 years old.
Side impact testing is assessed as part of the regulation to improve the protection of the child’s head and neck. R129 also makes use of the most high-tech crash test dummies which not only has improved sensor technology to test for greater sensitivity, but it also features more sensors on fragile areas of the body. iSize is an enhancement of R129 that makes it easier to confirm your car seat's compatibility with any iSize approved vehicle - reducing the risk of installing your car seat incorrectly. While all i-Size car seats meet the R129 testing standards, not every R129 car seat is an iSize compatible seat.
R129 (iSize) car seats are classified by height only. The below table is a rough guide as to how the car seats can relate to a child’s age based on the average child's height. In some instances, we may still need to check the weight of the child within the height band due to the maximum mass load permitted on a vehicle’s ISOFIX points.

/strong>This is a rough guide only. Please always refer to the individual car seat’s guidance for more specific details. Some car seats will be approved for use across two or more height bands. This just means that these seats have the ability to adapt as your child grows, meaning they can use them for longer.
